An immersive dance installation with hanging fabric, light, bodies and sound. Performed in 15 minute bursts, this collaborative project is made and performed by Corinna Grunn and Hilary Melcher Chapman, with sound design by Baxter. Part of Deep Water Lab, an initiative supporting local early and mid career artists.
Corinna Grunn is a dancer, choreographer and dance instructor based in the upper-delaware region of New York and Pennsylvania. She was introduced to theatre and dance at a very young age, first studying with Braman Arts Conservatory in New York, soon after branching out to various programs and dance companies which include: Ballet Theatre of Scranton, American Academy of Ballet, Manhattan Class Company Theatre, Third Street Music School and Post Concert Dance Company. Corinna has been trained in Ballet, Modern, African, and Contemporary dance styles. Her most recent works include “Technically Speaking”, and “Acedia”. She has recently returned from Berlin, Germany where she was continuing her training as a dancer and choreographer.
Hilary Melcher Chapman (she/her, they/them) has been performing, touring and teaching with LAVA, a feminist acrobatic dance company, since 2012. Recent works in the Catskills & NYC include LAVA’s A Goddessey & Equinox-Solstice as well asshows with CryTheMoon, a music- dance band collaboration with Barbara Gogan and Sarah East Johnson. Hilary receivedtheir BA from Sarah Lawrence College in 2006 with a focus in dance. Her background in movement includes acrobatics, dance improvisation, qi-gong, contemporary dance and somatic practices. Hilary is a healer and an aspiring herbalist. She leads Howl Walks in local woodlands, these guided meditative walking adventures engage a practice of re-wilding the self in nature. Find them on IG: @shinybreathing & @howlwalks
